Jeanette Walls has become a nomadic child since the age of four. She had become very dependent on her own, and she takes care of both her family and herself.  Her parents have a different style of parenting.  Jeanette had learned from her father's science and engineering, mathematics and history.  The glass castle is his promise to her, assuring her one day he would strike gold with the Prospector he had invented, and build the family a glass castle they could all live in. The glass castle remained a glimpse of hope, yet sadly proven to be one illusive dream.I’m surprised the term “Dysfunctional” never occurred in my mind as I read the book. The Walls children were tenacious, resourceful, bold and confident. They were avid readers and did well in school.  What more, they were devoted to each other and loyal to the family. From an early age, they had to learn to handle an alcoholic father, a moody and depressed mother, and mediate their occasional fights and conflicts. The kids had to parent their own misfit mother and father. The Walls might be financially crippled, they were able to maintain strong relationships and an exuberant zest for life.

Senior Paper

For my choice of my senior writing paper, I chose to do Breast Cancer.  In relation to the reason of me writing my senior paper is because my great grandma had breast cancer, and passed away from they’re not being a perfect cure to resolve the problem that my grandma had.  Also my family has a history with Breast Cancer.  I want to research the different ways of how there would be to sure the breast cancer, and make it go away.  Also I want to learn about how many different types of breast cancer there are.  Research the side affects of women who have to go through the procedure for the cancer.  I also want to research the symptoms of what each type of Breast Cancer, and how it can be found.  I want to figure out if men are to prone to getting Breast Cancer, and figure out what ways there are to get a cure for the breast cancer for the men who can get.  Try to resolve the ways of how a man or woman can survive with the cancer.  The reason of me wanting to do this paper is to see what I can find out there is to know about Breast Cancer. Also try to figure out hat kind of cure that could have been found for my great grand mother, and give someone else the miracle my grandmother never got to experience.  In my opinion Breast Cancer is a very serious issue and any women or men with their lives being affected deserve to have a sure and get better form being ill.

Consulting a doctor about the breast cancer could be the hardest thing for a woman to do.  But it would be the best way to figure out what kind of breast cancer they have, and how they try to find a cure for the patient.  The decisions could be very complex about what kind of treatments there would be in the case the patient has.  With the cancer, everything comes confidentially.

Breast cancer may have a cure if the doctor finds where it is in time.  There are also a lot of many ways that they can try to remove the breast cancer in the case of catching it at an early stage.  Many women have been affected with it, but there have also been many women surviving from this horrible disease.

If a woman has been tested positive for breast cancer, there are many questions she could ask her doctor.  The answers she would receive to these questions should give her a better understanding of her specific diagnosis, including the corresponding treatment.  There are different types of cases that women all over the world are diagnosed with.  Most women after finding out that they have breast cancer tend to be very emotional at times from the miserable disease.

Many cases of breast cancer have been found all throughout the United States.  This year there will be more then1.5 million diagnosed worldwide.  Even some of the women celebrities were affected with Breast Cancer.  The high rates of Breast Cancer are not acceptable to the women of the world, and must be met with scientific research that will provide results.   Aside from over a decade of research, and more than $1.7 billion spent.  There have been hundreds of women worldwide world wide everyday.  Yet, there have been doctors that don’t know how to cure the cancer.  Doctors are still approaching treatment for breast cancer in the same old- fashioned ways.

Breast cancer can be genetic.  Some lives could be heavily affected from the Breast Cancer.  Most Breast Cancer when carried through genes had been associated with BRCA1 and BRCA2.  Recently researchers have found that by blocking a gene called beta 1- integrant the growth of tumor cells can be stopped in time to fight the cancer gone.  The genetics are out of the bottle and stem cal research id moving forward whether the U.S. government like it or not.  The Gen Cells Cure offers more than hope, they couldn’t do any worse then what the scientists before have done.

Breast cancer is a high affective disease that no women want to be involved with in their life.  Women are diagnosed with it everyday around the world. It’s a life-changing event in anyone’s life.  Breast Cancer is serious.  Should be taken very seriously also.

The symptoms of Breast Cancer vary because women around the world all have different cases from one another.  There are different types of breast cancer, but have different effects on the body.  Some mammograms maybe be very successful, but some maybe incorrect and read the exam wrong.  Some of the symptoms could be: swelling of all or part of the breast, skin irritation/dimpling, breast pain, those are some of the common symptoms.  But, some rare cases there can different places where the breast cancer can be found.  The cases of the symptoms of the cancer could be very severe.  Sometimes some of the women that have been affected don’t get the miracle that they deserve.

The two main types of breast cancer are: Ductal Carcinoma, this type of cancer starts in the tubes.  The most common breast cancers are of this kind. The other type of cancer is rare, which is Lobular Carcinoma; this type of breast cancer is formed in certain parts of the breast, also called the lobules.  Some breast cancer can be invasive or non-invasive.  Invasive means that the cancer has spread to other tissues in the breast.  Non-invasive means that the cancer has not spread yet, and it referred to as “in situ.”  Ductal Carcinoma in situ is the cancer in the lining of the milk ducts that has not yet invaded near tissues.  It could be progress if the cancer is not treated in time.  Lobular Carcinoma in situ is a marker for an increased risk of invasive cancer in the same or both breasts.

In different cases of breast cancer there are plenty of ways to diagnosis the patient with what they have.  Like, if a breast abnormality is detected with mammography or a physical exam.  A woman would typically be referred for additional breast imaging with the diagnostic procedure.  Staging the cancer would be a good way to see if the cancer has spread or not.  A female’s doctor may use blood and imaging tests to spot what stage the disease is in.  The treatment decisions depend on the findings of the cancer.  The imaging of the Breast Cancer could be found in different ways.  Like using the Screening Mammography, Diagnostic Mammography, Ultrasonography, and could also be found by a Breast MRI.

Breast cancer comes with a lot of risk factors.  Some of the important risk factors for breast cancer are            sex, age, lack of childbearing or breastfeeding, higher hormone levels, race, economic status, and dietary iodine deficiency.  Smoking tobacco could also increase the possibilities of breast cancer in any woman.  There could also be the possibility of there being a genetic factor; the breast cancer could run in the genes from the family. Breast cancer can be found rare through genetics.  Being found in the genes mostly increases the chance of breast cancer.  In men or women who carry the BRCA mutations are most likely to have the worst case of breast cancer found in anyone.  Any women at the age of twenty that had gained weight are most likely to develop breast cancer, after their stage of menopause in comparison to those who maintained their weight.  Mostly, the average sixty-year-old woman’s risk of developing breast cancer by age sixty-five is about 2 percent, but her lifetime risk is thirteen percent likely.

Radiation is given to him or her right after surgery to the region of the tumor bed and the regional lymph nodes.  Radiation is used to destroy microscopic tumor cells that may have escaped during surgery.  It may have also been a beneficial effect on tumor  microenvironment.  The radiation therapy can very well be delivered as external beam radiotherapy or as Brach therapy, or of which could show the condition of the cancer and where it sits.   Radiation can reduce the risk of recurrence by 50%-66%.  When delivered in the correct dose, and is considered essential when breast cancer is going to be treated by removing only the Lymph of the cancer.

Hormone therapy can help change the breast cancer cells, and affect their ability to multiply.  It’s also to help add, block, or remove hormones.  With the breast cancer, the female hormones have estrogen and progesterone can promote the growth of some breast cancer cells.  There are two main types of hormone therapy for the breast cancer.  Like, drugs that inhibit estrogen and progesterone from promoting breast cancer cell growth.  Drugs or some surgery turn off the production of hormones from the ovaries.  The hormone therapy can be the key for women that have hormone receptor-positive cancer.  The drug Tamoxifen has been used to black the effects of the estrogen for decades now.  But there have also been lots of other drugs for the cancer that have been used to help recover the hormones. Some of the drugs are: aromatase inhibitors Arimidex and Femara, and also the aromatase inactivator Aromasin, they all have been highly effective.  In premenopausal women tamoxifen the drugs are more effective.  The drugs reduce the amount of estrogen that the women’s body makes.  By cutting off the amount of the supply of estrogen, you can choke the cancer, and help slow it down from not letting the cancer spread any further. Women that haven’t reached menopause may and should consider getting their ovaries removed to stop them from making hormones that can cause or help cancer to grow, or they could also take drugs that have the same effect on their body.   There have also been lots of ways for women to through the process of hormone recovery with diagnosis.  The biopsy results could tell you the bare bones of what kind of recovery of the breast would have to complete.  The initial diagnosis will be either non-invasive or invasive breast cancer.  Then there will be more information needed before the doctors decide what treatments would be wise to be used on the cancer.  To complete the diagnosis, the doctor would need to do imaging studies, blood work, and in some cases, taking some of the larger tissue samples for the examination.  The comprehensive diagnosis will answer many questions about the specific type of breast cancer, tumor size, and possible spread of cancer.  A new study has been found to find away to help with the replacement of the hormones for menopausal women.  There has been a large amount of estrogen and progesterone that have been found in a number of cases of breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Awareness is well known throughout the United States.  There have been plenty of men and women who have walked miles and miles to help those in need of a cure to save their lives.  The month of October is determined on being a whole month for breast cancer awareness.  There have been lots of families who have been affected with the disease, and some of them get to witness the miracle that others wish so much for.  For the awareness there are plenty of foundations that raise money.  Donations have been made over the twenty-five that breast cancer has really been a big concern to the women and men.  Throughout, the month of October there are events that recovering breast cancer victims or affected families have attended.  Also, through the month of October people wear pink to raise awareness all around the United States. Also, during the month of October sports teams wear the color pink to help support the awareness of the breast cancer.  National sports teams for example; the NFL they all wear pink during the month of supporting the breast cancer.  Helping raise awareness helps show people that they actually care about was has occurred in the past.  In the State of Colorado, there have been license plates that can be sold to anyone for their cars.  It helps the cause of breast cancer.  The Pink Ribbon is dedicated to also raising awareness and funding for the breast cancer research.  “I LOVE BOOBIES” bracelets have been sold in plenty of Zumiez stores to customers who wanted to spread the awareness of breast cancer. They’re more popular with teenagers, but you can also catch some adults wearing them.  Wearing the breast cancer bracelets help to raise awareness.  There are also lots of people who wear their pink ribbons on their clothing to show that they help and support the awareness of the breast cancer.  All the merchandise sold for awareness is all a baby-pink and no other color.

Physical activity during breast cancer can help prevent the cancer from getting any further.  There have been plenty of women who have fought the cancer from physical activity.  Most of the activities have taken place home-based.  The doctor sends the man or woman home, to work on the workouts for the patient to work on in the process of dialysis. The patient could also be assigned a control group for the cancer. The steps of the workouts are simple, but they can also be randomized depending on what kinds of workouts or activities the patient agrees with.  If the patient is told to stay in the hospital they always make sure of the heart rate.  The doctor also always tries to do a warm-up before the workouts, and a cool-down after the workouts are over and done with.  The patient is also exercising at a moderate intensity.  Also, research has proven that during the physical activity of breast cancer has been proven to have been reduced by high percentage.   Exercise definitely reduces the chance of breast cancer or any other kinds of cancer out there.
